Online Platform for Linking Local Non-Government Organizations and Experts for Capacity Building

In an era marked by continuous change and evolving challenges, the need for effective capacity building within Local Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) has never been greater. These NGOs play a pivotal role in addressing local community issues, but often face resource constraints and a lack of access to expertise and Further to that our current partner’s programme data management practices are mainly through Excel on individual computers, limiting data and information access, increasing the risk of poor data quality and data loss, minimising the ability to share the learnings of Local NGOs across countries, and creating inefficiencies with broader programme impact reviews . To bridge this gap and foster collaboration, we propose the development of an online platform that connects Local NGOs with experts in various fields for capacity-building initiatives.


  1. Objectives

The primary objectives of this initiative are as follows:


  1. Facilitate Knowledge Sharing: Create a platform where Local NGOs can access a diverse pool of experts and knowledge resources for capacity-building purposes.
  2. Enhance Local NGO Capacities: Empower Local NGOs with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to better serve their communities.
  3. Foster Collaboration: Encourage collaboration and partnerships between Local NGOs and experts to address local challenges more effectively.
  4. Streamline Resource Allocation: Optimize resource allocation by connecting experts willing to volunteer their time and expertise with NGOs seeking specific support.
  5. Project Management for the local partner’s projects: The platform should serve as a project management platform for NGOs partners of SCI that regulate the partnership management requirements during the project’s life cycle.
  1. Scope of Work for the Consultant

We are seeking a qualified consultant to lead the development and implementation of this online platform. The consultant's responsibilities will include:


  1. Conducting Needs Assessment: Evaluate the specific needs and challenges faced by Local NGOs in terms of capacity building.
  2. Platform Design and Development: Create a user-friendly online platform that allows NGOs to register, access resources, and connect with experts. Ensure the platform's scalability, security, and compatibility with various devices.
  3. Database Creation: Develop a comprehensive database of experts willing to provide support in different areas, including but not limited to fundraising, program management, technical expertise, and governance.
  4. Matching Algorithm: Implement an efficient matching algorithm that pairs NGOs with suitable experts based on their needs and preferences.
  5. Content Management: Develop a content management system to host training materials, webinars, and resources for NGOs and experts.
  6. User Support: Provide technical support and training for NGOs and experts using the platform.
  7. Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish mechanisms for monitoring platform usage, collecting feedback, and evaluating the impact of capacity-building initiatives.
  8. Sustainability Plan: Develop a sustainability plan for the platform, including revenue-generation strategies if necessary.

The successful implementation of this project is expected to yield the following outcomes:


  1. Increased capacity within Local NGOs, leading to more effective and impactful community initiatives.
