Position: Cook & Housekeeper
Location: Sa’ada
Grade: 7        
Contract Length: 10 months
This post is based on Sa’ada, so candidates from Sa’ada will take the priority and preference.

The Opportunity:

The Cook and Housekeeper will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in both office and guesthouse environments while also providing cooking services in the office canteen or guesthouses. The line manager will determine the specific work schedule, assigning tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and working in either guesthouses or the office. If assigned to cook in the office canteen, the Cook and Housekeeper will also manage shopping, collect money from staff, and handle daily lunch reservations.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

1-  Cooking and Food Preparation:

  • Prepare meals according to provided recipes, considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Ensure high-quality food presentation and maintain proper food handling and hygiene practices.
  • Clean and sanitize cooking utensils, equipment, and kitchen surfaces.
  • Manage inventory of food items, including planning and organizing grocery shopping.
  • Collect money from staff members for meals and maintain accurate records of transactions.

2-  Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of all assigned areas, including office spaces, common areas, guest rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen facilities.
  • Dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting surfaces as needed.
  • Emptying trash bins and disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Restocking supplies, such as toiletries, cleaning agents, and kitchen items.
  • Reporting any maintenance issues or repair requirements to the line manager promptly.

3-  Shopping and Supplies Management:

  • Manage shopping for groceries, ensuring an adequate supply of ingredients and kitchen essentials.
  • Maintain inventory records, track usage, and report any shortages or replenishment needs.
  • Follow budget guidelines, seek cost-effective options, and maintain accurate expense records.
  • Collaborate with the line manager to develop shopping lists and ensure timely purchases.

4-  Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with the line manager, colleagues, and guests.

  • Follow instructions, work schedules, and task assignments provided by the line manager.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure a harmonious and productive work environment.

Report any issues, incidents, or concerns to the line manager in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous 1-2 years’ experience as a cook and housekeeper is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in cooking a variety of dishes while adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation guidelines, and food safety practices.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues and guests.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work schedules and tasks as determined by the line manager.
