About the First Aden Bank (FAB)

• The First Aden Bank (FAB) will operate in the Republic of Yemen in accordance with the Islamic banking principles and in agreement with all the licensing criteria and regulatory requirements for Islamic banks set by the Central Bank of Yemen and the relevant laws.
• The FAB aims to achieve a satisfactory return for its shareholders and customers, ensuring economic development and social progress for people and societies.
• The FAB will offer an alternative financial services option for customers through a differentiated set of products and services tailored to various sectors’ needs and fundamentally distinguishable from other competitors.

Role Summary

• The First Aden Bank seeks its inaugural Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to launch this contemporary, mission‐oriented Islamic Bank. The Board of Directors welcomes applications from visionary, experienced, and resourceful leaders ready to roll up their sleeves and build a bank from the ground up that harnesses efforts and builds out the bold visions.
• The CEO will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the First Aden Bank’s staff, products, expansion, and execution of its mission. In addition, the CEO will serve as the public face of the First Aden Bank with key partners and stakeholders. Importantly, as the inaugural CEO, the selected candidate will provide strategic leadership and guide the Bank through its critical startup phase and initial growth, including managing the recruitment of additional staff and owning responsibility for successfully deploying the Bank’s initial public offering.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Formulate the long-term business strategy and the associated plans and implement necessary programs to achieve the targets and oversee the implementation across the Bank.
• Identify and support business development opportunities to deliver the long-term business strategy of the Bank.
• Maintain dialogue between the shareholders and the Board of Directors and provide timely feedback on possible queries.
• Act as the Bank’s senior liaison to external partners, clients, and agencies and develop a strong working relationship with them.
• Manage the startup operations of the Bank. 
• Build and maintain the senior leadership team capable of delivering the Bank’s strategy and objectives and identify, develop and recruit top talent to ensure effective succession to top management positions.
• Set and manage the overall budgets and forecasts to effectively execute strategic initiatives.
• Report results to the Board on a quarterly and annual basis.
• Carry out regular business analysis to engage industry and market changes.
• Set the bank-wide KPIs’ to measure the Bank's performance in all areas and ensure they are achieved.
• Implement, improve, and enforce policies and procedures that will increase the financial and operational effectiveness of the Bank.
• Enhance the Bank’s brand awareness by building a solid marketing and branding plan.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and implementation of internal controls, policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

•  A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Islamic Banking, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a relevant field. Possession of a professional qualification related to Islamic Banking will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of 10-15 years of work experience in banking or relevant financial services with at least 5-7 years at the senior management level.
• Must demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of Islamic banking operation, Islamic shariah principles, Islamic banking deposit & investment products, Islamic banking products (Murabaha, Ijarha, Mudarabah, Musharakah Investments, and Sukuks), and AAOIFI standards.
• Strategic skills and previous business startup experience preferred.
• Highly proficient in both spoken and written English is essential.
