برنامج الفنون Liberal Arts
تسعى جامعة نورثwestern في قطر إلى توظيف زميل مميز لوظيفة أعضاء هيئة تدريس بدوام كامل بدرجة مفتوحة في الاقتصاد السياسي، على أن تُعين في برنامج الفنون Liberal Arts. نرحب بالباحثين الذين لديهم أجندة بحثية نشطة تفحص الاقتصاد السياسي من منظور نقدي عالمي مقارن أو عابر للحدود، مع اهتمام خاص بالنهج متعددة التخصصات تجاه الجنوب العالمي. قد تشمل مجالات الخبرة دراسات التنمية النقدية، الاقتصاد السياسي النسوي، أو الاقتصاد السياسي ما بعد/ما بعد الاستعمار، العلاقات الجنوب-جنوب، الاقتصاد السياسي النقدي للإعلام، المناخ والاستخراجية، أنظمة العمل، اقتصاديات الأراضي الزراعية، وسياسات الدين. قد يأتي المرشحون من علم السياسة، الاقتصاد، دراسات الإعلام، الدراسات العالمية، علم الاجتماع، التاريخ، أو الأنثروبولوجيا. من المتوقع أن يمتلك المرشحون كفاءة لغوية وخبرة ميدانية في مجال بحثهم.

Political Economy in the Global South
Liberal Arts Program
Northwestern University in Qatar seeks an outstanding colleague for a full-time open rank faculty position in Political Economy, to be appointed in the Liberal Arts Program. We welcome scholars with an active research agenda examining political economy from a critical, global, comparative, or transnational perspective, with a special interest in interdisciplinary approaches to the Global South. Areas of expertise may include critical development studies, feminist political economy, or post/de-colonial political economy, south-south relations, critical political economy of the media, climate and extractivism, labor regimes, agrarian political economies, and the politics of debt. Candidates could come from political science, economics, media studies, global studies, sociology, history, or anthropology. Candidates are expected to have linguistic competence and field experience in their area of research.
In addition to a demonstrated research record commensurate with rank, or a highly promising research trajectory for candidates with a recent PhD, applicants should show competence in working with global communities, a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring, and dedication to institutional service and shared governance. Candidates are expected to contribute to both undergraduate and future graduate education and program development. Teaching expectations include two courses per semester, which may include core disciplinary courses, elective courses that speak to their research field, as well as contribution to NU-Q’s broader curricular needs. This could include the required “Ways of Knowing” course, the Doha Seminar honors course, graduate seminars, executive education classes, or courses qualifying for our university’s growing number of interdisciplinary minors, such as Africana Studies, AI and Media Studies, Film and Design, Media and Politics, Middle East Studies, and Strategic Communication. There are also opportunities to collaborate with NU-Q’s Institute for Advanced Study of the Global South, Artificial Intelligence and Media Lab, and Media Majlis Museum.
