GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

MAIN PURPOSE: The Site Supervisor Engineer will be based in the field in the targeted district of Raymah Gov. S/he is part of the site management team under the direction of the Project Technical Engineer and acts as day-to-day manager on a construction site. S/he is responsible for monitoring the contractor for implementation of the construction/rehabilitation works for the schools’ building including WASH facilities, as well as regular reporting, checking drawings, quantities, and ensuring calculations are accurate.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervision and observation of the implementation of the construction/rehabilitation works for the schools’ building including WASH facilities by contractor according to the technical studies and timeline plans of work and according to BOQs for the project.
  • Undertake technical assessment and ensure quality and accurate technical specifications are incorporated into the projects' technical specifications.
  • Conduct site visits on daily basis to follow up progress in contractor work and guide the work.
  • Reports of achievement of daily, weekly, and closing to Project Technical Engineer.
  • Follow up on the project work plan, implement the project activities, reporting any challenges and deviations immediately.
  • Managing safety and protection procedures and measures in the worksite.
  • Assist in planning and carrying out the other education project activities such as distribution of schools supplies and conducting trainings in the targeted schools.
  • Participate with the Edu team in implementing any other activities as per request from the Senior Education Officer and assist in achieving the project designed outcomes.
  • Support the reporting and documentation of impact and success stories and providing the necessary documentations related to (reports + pictures and video), in order to display the implementation mechanism of the project.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including local government, schools, NGOs, and communities in the targeted areas of Al Ja’fariyya district, in addition to participating in relevant meetings and representing BFD and the program staff as appropriate 
  • Any related tasks/duties assigned by the Project Technical engineer or senior Officer.

Required Qualifications and skills:

  • A bachelor's degree in Civil engineering.
  • One to two years of experience in planning and implementation of construction and rehabilitation works of buildings and WASH facilities (NGO experience preferred).
  • Good Knowledge of the Area.
  • Good knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Standards and legislation related to construction and rehabilitation in Yemen
  • Effective use of computer and designing programs – Word and Excel and preferably a design and drawing software like AutoCAD.
  • Personal qualities: promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to work well under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven and excellent sense of organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions quickly and independently
  • Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations.

Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS): The role holder is required to carry out the duties in adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standards, the values and principles outlined in BFD's policies such as Code of Conduct, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Child Safeguarding, Anti Workplace Harassment, Fiscal Integrity, Anti-Retaliation and other internal policies and guidelines.
