Head of Programmes and Partnerships

British Council Yemen is recruiting for the role of Head of Programmes and Partnerships  to be based in Mukalla, Yemen.  The successful candidate must have the right to work in Yemen and able to travel within the country and the region

Role Purpose

To support British Council Yemen objectives through the development and delivery of our Grant-based programmes and through the pursuit of new full cost recovery, co-funding and partnership opportunities.
The role will ensure that team performance adds value to the delivery of objectives and to ensure that all risks, particularly those related to programmes, financial compliance and business continuity are monitored, managed and controlled. 
To be a key and pro-active member of the Country Leadership Team to support the development of the operation’s cultural relations strategy and ensure compliance of the operation against corporate policies.

About You: 
We are looking for someone with:

  • Yemeni passport holder or have a valid residency or work permit in Yemen
  • University degree in management/international development or relevant sectors (Arts, Education, social development)
  • Proven experience in relevant sectors
  • Knowledge of Yemen context, market and audiences
  • Sectoral knowledge in the Arts, Education and/or Social Development (especially on youth, women and civil society)
  • Knowledge and experience in deploying and employing conflict sensitivity in programme design and delivery
  • Experience of safe planning, organising and delivery of activities for children and /or vulnerable adults
  • Experience in financial planning and budget management
