The Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) is a non-governmental, voluntary, independent organization established in March 2015, officially registered at the Ministry of Social Affairs as per license (99). As SDF has been present in Yemen since 2015, it has experience implementing emergency child protection and education responses, including women and youth empowerment. SDF has experience in handling large grants from international donors, such as UNDP, UNHCR, OCHA, WHO, SCI, WFP and ZOA. The Foundation has excellent national-level relations and has experience in coordinating with both national and international NGOs. It has offices, staff and community-based committees in Hajjah, Sana'a, Marib, Ibb, Hudidah, Dhamar, Al-Bayda’a, Almahweet, Aden and Hadramout as well as solid experiences engaging with local communities from whom it gained acceptance and with whom it has collaborated in the past. In addition to that, SDF creates livelihood opportunities and community-based protection committees. Duties and Responsibilities:
1- Review electrical systems design for Infrastructure projects in terms of accuracy, suitability to overall design requirements, including Identifying improvements in the designs and be able to propose practical solutions.
2- Design & Analyze electrical engineering systems for projects designed as requested utilizing research, development, relevant codes and good engineering practices.
3- Prepare electrical drawings including plans, sections, elevations, details and other layouts as needed.
4- Prepare and Review the electrical bill of quantities in terms of accuracy and content.
5- Review and certify the submitted payment certificate.
6- Prepare estimates and prices for new project development works.
7- Responsible for Inspect & verify the actual needs, assessments and daily implementation of the solar expansion activities and progress at assigned work sites.
8- Identify the required space for the artery room & roof plan for solar panels.
9- Prepare appropriate renewable energy system designs for target facilities based on actual electricity measurements, needs & according to site suitability.
10- Provide technical & administrative support throughout all stages of designing processes by executing/administering a variety of technical design transactions, preparing materials/documentations, complying with SDF processes & procedures.
11- Develop estimated costs for rehabilitation/construction or solar expansion works.
12- Develop and maintain good lines of communication and relationships with local authorities and the local community.
13- Watch and report on any new needs arising in the project target areas.
14- Ensure a safe working environment for all people involved in project implementation.
15- Is responsible for maintaining detailed work plans and written records of engineering work undertaken in the project.
16- Perform any other tasks relevant to the Infrastructure and Engineering Unit when required.
17- Performs other duties as assigned
Advanced degree in Electric engineering is required. A first-level university degree preferable with additional two years of relevant combination of academic qualifications or extensive experience in construction may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
At least 2 years of experience in electrical systems design (solar systems design) and construction for medium to large scale building construction projects in Yemen.
Good knowledge in power systems, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, access control systems, industrial equipment control and telecommunication systems.
Work Experience with an international Organization and/or UN Agencies is an asset.
