The United Nations World Food Programme is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. We are the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change.
Aiming to feed 13 million of the most vulnerable people with food assistance, WFP’s emergency response in Yemen is the agency’s largest anywhere in the world. WFP also provides nutrition support to 1.7 million children and mothers, and delivers school meals to 850,000 children each day.
Assisting 91.4 million people in around 83 countries each year, the World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving Lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.
In 2019, WFP is scaling up its Yemen operations aiming to provide 12 million people with monthly food assistance through direct food distributions, vouchers or cash and nutritional support to nearly 3 million pregnant and nursing women and children under 5.
To provide effective specialized support and technical analyses to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 or more years of relevant experience.
- Completion of secondary school education;
- Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Arabic and English.
- Either a Yemeni citizen or a foreign citizen with permanent Yemeni work permit.
- Provide technical support and assist with the development and implementation of various activities and processes within the specific work area, with a view to fostering alignment with broader program policies and guidelines.
- Provide specialized project management support to specific and/or defined programs to ensure that the various activities are carried out within the objectives set, in accordance with WFP policies and procedures.
- To thoroughly review, verify, Compile of respective Cooperating Partners (CPs) Food release Note and Distribution plans (FRNs/ DPs) then to submit the verified FRNs to Aden IMO focal point on a timely manner for consolidation and sharing with CO.
- Conduct monitoring field visits /remote monitoring to nutrition sites both TSFP & BSFP to understand the key issues/challenges in nutrition program implementation, provide support and recommendations for improving the program quality on monthly basis.
- Follow up with GHOs conducting their coordination meetings as per their Field Level Agreements, reviewing submitted budget and providing feedback to the supervisor for approval.
- Develop a monthly nutrition monitoring plan for the WFP team and the TPM and attend the invitation meeting with the third party.
- Close follow up on the daily operation issues and escalated issues reported by Partners and/or logistics unit in terms of dispatches, deliveries ensuring no stock out left in Health Facilities.
- Perform an initial review of the findings of the quarterly narrative and monitoring reports provided by CPs, highlighting issues that require the attention of the IMO or supervisor for further analysis.
- Follow up and support to Cooperating Partners (NGOs & GHOs) to prepare the invoices and payment trackers in order to releases their payments.
- Prepare draft, translate, print and distribute messaging (official letter from/to MoPHP )
- Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work (e.g. assistance programmes, food security and vulnerability assessments) and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
- Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners, and national government within the specific technical area and ensure their performance.
- Oversee and/or review the work of other support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to contribute to delivering objectives to agreed standards and deadlines.
- Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.
