The Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) is a non-governmental, voluntary, independent organization established in March 2015, officially registered at the Ministry of Social Affairs as per license (99). As SDF has been present in Yemen since 2015, it has experience implementing emergency child protection and education responses, including women and youth empowerment. SDF has experience in handling large grants from international donors, such as UNDP, UNHCR, OCHA, WHO, SCI, WFP and ZOA. The Foundation has excellent national-level relations and has experience in coordinating with both national and international NGOs. It has offices, staff and community-based committees in Hajjah, Sana'a, Marib, Ibb, Hudidah, Dhamar, Al-Bayda’a ,Almahweet, Aden and Hadramout as well as solid experiences engaging with local communities from whom it gained acceptance and with whom it has collaborated in the past. In addition to that, SDF creates livelihood opportunities and community-based protection committees. Last but not least, the foundation is mainly focused on Sustainable Development Goals and Humanitarian Response.

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
Under the direct supervision of the Project Director , the child Project Officer will be responsible for the monitoring, supervision the day to day implementation of SC project activities (direct implementation and partners monitoring) in the Aden and Lahj / governorates.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Child Protection Officer is responsible for leading the technical input into Child protection Programs in the targeted communities. This means that he/she is responsible for all the Child Protection program activities at IDPs locations and host communities level.
It is expected that the CP officer ensures good quality in the technical aspects of the CP programs, as well as good quality of our staff, our cooperation with other partners.
The CP officer shall be ensuring Family Tracing and Reunifications (FTR) of Unaccompanied Minor and Separated Children, care arrangement and alternative families arrangements, and coordinate closely with the psychosocial support team, case management team, and Community mobilization team and make sure that the activities at the sites are child friendly in all means.
This includes representing the SC Child Protection team/ program in interagency meetings at camp level
- Coordinate and contribute to community-based child protection system and psychosocial support.
- Establish of effective community based case management and care arrangement. For UASC .
- Building and enriching effective child protection networks at all levels and connecting them as fully as possible through child protection committee and refugee central committee
- Coordinate Family tracing and reunification activities (identification, interviewing, verification, interim care arrangement and family reunification) of UAM/SC in the camp
- Ensure that child protection interventions are informed by and integrated with other core sectors of education, health, nutrition, food security and livelihoods.
- In collaboration with procurement staffs raise PRs, follow up on Project expenditure, forecast and track PRs accordingly.
- Arrange proper referral systems like health issues, Disabilities, GBV with other IPS to provide the necessary assistance for EVC(Extremely Vulnerable Children)
- Training for child protection assistants, supervisors and volunteers on child protection and child right concepts, FTR, Case management, Psychosocial support
- Strengthening the existing Community structure, Child protection committee and care givers through training and awareness raising activities
- Ensure that CFSs are properly staffed throughout opening hours. Ensure a system for correct attendance and absence for our volunteers and the rest of the staff. The CP officer is responsible for taking necessary disciplinary action when absence/ delayed attendance is reported.
- Make sure that there is absolutely zero tolerance for corporal punishment or aggression from SCI or contracted partners ,volunteers, guards or other staff, directed to children.
- Monitor program implementation against the established indicators detailed in the projects Logical Framework and implementation plans.
- Conduct field visits as required to verify program activities relative to stated targets.
- Provide technical input and deliver (or support the delivery of) program in close coordination with other Child Protection team members.
- Working for integrating child protection activities with education and other sectors in the camp and the targeted communities.
- Prepare child protection implementation plan and monthly and weekly activity plan.
- Prepare the necessary format for FTR activities and keep recordings of UASC in Interagency data base system and/or CPIMS+
Reporting and Monitoring
- Preparing weekly updates and monthly reports for the Project director on a frequent basis on project accomplishments and impact;
- Developing an effective system of monitoring and evaluation for child protection and psychosocial interventions.
- Perform any other relevant duties as required by the supervisor.
- Post graduate CHILD PROTECTION in development or other relevant field (equivalent in professional experience may also be considered)
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- 2 years management experience of running Child Protection programmes, both in emergency and development circumstances .
- Familiarity with the Area context .
- Very strong knowledge and understanding of key technical areas of social work programming, and a working knowledge of the other sectors that include CHILD PROTECTION , livelihoods and health
- Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
- An in-depth understanding of national development issues in particular in relation to children
- Previous experience of working with a multi-cultural team and the adaptability to varied team dynamics
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Writing and spoken English & Arabic
- Commitment to SDF Code of Conduct, Child Safeguarding Policy and values
- Good knowledge of safety standards and legislation related to construction and rehabilitation in Yemen
- A good team worker willing to learn from others, listen and provide sound technical advice on construction that will benefit children
- Strong organizational and planning skills with good communication skills

- The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
