About SDF:

The Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) is a non-governmental, voluntary, independent organization established in March 2015, officially registered at the Ministry of Social Affairs as per license (99). As SDF has been present in Yemen since 2015, it has experience implementing emergency child protection and education responses, including women and youth empowerment. SDF has experience in handling large grants from international donors, such as UNDP, UNHCR, WFP, OCHA, WHO, SCI and ZOA. The Foundation has excellent national-level relations and has experience in coordinating with both national and international NGOs. It has offices, staff and community-based committees in Hajjah, Sana'a, Marib, Ibb, Hudidah, Dhamar, Almahweet, Al-Bayda’a, a6nd Hadramout as well as solid experiences engaging with local communities from whom it gained acceptance and with whom it has collaborated in the past. In addition to that, SDF creates livelihood opportunities and community-based protection.

Job Context: 

While CBPN Focal Person will be stationed at the Centre, she/he will conduct community outreach regularly to closely monitor IDP project activities by CBPN members and provide on-the-job coaching. She/he will supervise and guide CBPN members in emergency response activities to both IDPs & HCs

The CBPN Focal Point oversees all CBPN activities; has direct communication and supervision of the CBPN members and will be responsible for timely reporting of CBPN activities. The CBPN Focal Point facilitates implementation of the CBPN members activities in line with the CBPN Standard Operating Procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the selection of CBPN members is in line with the Age, Gender and Diversity approach by including IDPs, host community members, women, men, older persons, persons with disabilities, and persons from the marginalized community.
  • Train the CBPN members on UNHCR code of conduct, PSEA, principles of ethical referral and their terms of reference so the CBPN members clearly understand their roles and responsibilities as well as obligation and guiding principles prior to commencing their activities as CBPN members.
  • Build the capacity of the CBPN by providing continuous training and on the job coaching for the CBPN members to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently as well as in a transparent manner. Part of the capacity-building will consist in conducting frequent field visits to monitor the activities of CBPN members and provide on-the-job training.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with the CBPN members to discuss the humanitarian situation and needs, achievements and challenges in implementing activities.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with UNHCR staff to discuss achievements and challenges of activities implemented.
  • Conduct “on the spot” visits to better assess the work of the CBPN members.
  • Compile a monthly report where issues highlighted by CBPN members will be summarized. The reports are shared with Field Offices and Branch Office Protection on monthly basis.
  • Conduct mid-year and final performance review of the CBPN members to ensure they are implementing activities by adhering to the guiding principles with integrity, respecting confidentiality and in a non-discriminatory manner.
  • Timely report to UNHCR on information received by the CBPN members on urgent protection risks/needs and new displacement;
  • Be the point of contact between the CBPN members and the protection officer.
  • Refer individual cases received from the CBPN members to appropriate units/staff within the office, depending on the nature of cases.
  • Ensure complaints and feedback received from CBPN members is provided to the Accountability Officer based in the office in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate and complete filing/archiving both electronically & hard copy of beneficiaries’ documentation with FORM_NO in SDF system.
  • Take an active role in promoting the visibility and reputation of SDF such as success stories, case studies, photos, videos, and social media posts, that highlight SDF’s work & achievements.
  • Any other tasks as delegated by the line manager.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in social work or any related issues.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ community work experience particularly in the field and in complex environments.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, problem-solving and inter-personal skills.
  • Working experience with community-based organizations and groups.
  • Solid Computer skills and competency in word, Excel as a minimum.
