Protection Officer

About SDF:

The Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) is a non-governmental, voluntary, independent organization established in March 2015, officially registered at the Ministry of Social Affairs as per license (99). SDF has been present in Yemen since 2015, it has experience implementing emergency child protection and education responses, including women and youth empowerment. SDF has experience in handling large grants from international donors, such as UNDP, UNHCR, WFP, OCHA, WHO, SCI and ZOA. SDF has excellent national-level relations and has experience in coordinating with both national and international NGOs. It has offices, staff and community-based committees in Hajjah, Sana'a, Marib, Ibb, Hudidah, Dhamar, Almahweet, Al-Bayda’a, and Hadramout as well as solid experiences engaging with local communities from whom it gained acceptance and with whom it has collaborated in the past. In addition to that, SDF creates livelihood opportunities and community-based protection.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support and guidance to the database and information management teams, ensuring that data is collected and stored properly, and is used effectively in reporting and as a program management, monitoring and evaluation tool.
  • Track progress against activities and outputs as committed, and support team to adjust work plans to most effectively achieve targets.
  • Case Management: for vulnerable conflict effected people whenever needed.
  • Raise awareness for vulnerable conflict effected Children, community, youth and households upon protection issues through interviews and counseling and awareness sessions.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, mid and final reports on time and be delivered to the project manager.
  • Document all challenges, difficulties and success stories that might take place during implementing the project.
  • Working in the field and follow up protection monitors in the field. 
  • Establish and coordinate with CBPNs networks.
  • Assist field teams in the identification and compilation of key protection information and issues for preparing protection briefs and advocacy documents as needed.
  • Encourage and facilitate coordination between SDF and NGOs, UN, donors and government at the field office level, as necessary
  • Support the collection of reports from the field, collecting, drafting, editing and submitting to the protection Officer for review.
  • Support the implementation of training sessions for partners and government counterparts.
  • Develop and maintain a log of scheduled training and for both internal and external events.
  • Assist in coordination with NGOs, UN, donors and government, as requested by the project Coordinator.
  • Verification and investigation of emergency cases related to protection and rent subsidies and collection of all documents related to the emergency in coordination with the project manager.
  • Providing and preparing lists of vulnerable who are in needs of shelters and NFIs based on data collected from the KOBO system.
  • Analyze daily, weekly and monthly reports for identification of key achievements, challenges and advocacy issues.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree Social Psychology, Social Worker, or related Field.
  • Experience in working on similar tasks and duties.
  • Computer skills in MS Office programs.
  • Flexible with working hours and conditions.
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail and reporting in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and relationship building skills.
  • Team player, presentable, dynamic and customer oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to and understanding of SDF’s aims, values and principles.
