Project Engineer 

1-  Identification 

Job Title:  Project Engineer

Location:  Sana’a

Application Deadline : 31 of March  2024 ,

 

2- Overall Purpose :

The Project Engineer plays a key role in overseeing and managing engineering projects and contracting  matters from inception to completion. This position requires strong technical expertise, project  management and contract skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams  to ensure successful project delivery within scope, schedule, and budget constraints. 

The holder of this  position will be the first assistant to the project manager in technical, engineering and contractual matters. 

3- Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Engineering Design and Documentation:

  • Contribute to the development of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications in  Accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Review and analyze technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, and  construction drawings, to identify design discrepancies and propose solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including project plans, progress  reports, and technical specifications.

2. Construction Management:

  • Oversee construction activities, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project  plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate site inspections, resolve technical issues, and address any deviations from  project requirements in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel to optimize  construction processes and minimize delays.

3. Contract Management:

  • Track the entire contracting process in TYF, ensuring adherence to established timelines  and procedures.
  • Share TYF's feedback, notes, and instructions with consultants and contractors to ensure  contractual compliance.
  • Review standard documents for tenders before announcing any tender.
  • Participate in tender analysis as requested by the project manager.
  • Prepare purchase request forms raised by the project team.
  • Receive and examine samples, and submit them to the project manager.
  • Prepare payment requests and dues for everyone who has been contracted.
  • Transcribe tender data into approved forms in TYF.
  • Provide support to the project manager in matters related to contracts.
  • Collaborate with project teams to address any potential deviations from contract terms  and conditions.
  • Provide timely updates and reports on contract-related activities as required.

4. Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Implement quality assurance and control measures to ensure that construction work  meets established standards and specifications.
  • Conduct inspections, tests, and evaluations of materials, equipment, and workmanship  to identify and address quality issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to maintain or improve  project quality.

5. Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with project execution and develop  risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and assess project risks throughout the project lifecycle, and take proactive  measures to minimize their impact on project objectives.
  • Work closely with the project manager and other stakeholders to address any unforeseen  challenges or obstacles.

Job Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in a relevant field such as Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Proven experience in contract management, preferably within the infrastructure or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration and compliance with policies, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to maintain positive relationships with consultants and contractors.
  • Proficiency in using contract management software and MS Office Suite.

The Project Engineer , as an engineering professional, will play a pivotal role in the successful management of project contracts. They will ensure effective coordination with consultants for the development of BoQs and drawings, as well as smoot h communication with contractors for the execution of hard activities. By adhering to TYF's policies and procedures, the  Project Engineer will contribute to the project's overall success by maintaining accurate contract documentation, facilitating compliance, and ensuring efficient contract administration.
